If you’re in the direct-marketing business long enough, you learn that there is a mailing list for just about every segment of the population you can conceive, as well as quite a few you probably never even thought existed.

You may need to ask the help of a direct marketing list broker to execute your real estate postcard marketing plan. He will help you identify the right lists which contain individuals who may have houses that can be listed for sale and will make good investments.

Mailing list brokers earn by renting direct-marketers, who get names and addresses of people of some demographic sections of society. Now a nutritional health company will surely search for people who have a history of buying dietary supplements. So in this case a list broker, not just provides this information but can also provide you the names of people who purchased supplements for an amount more than $50, in the past year.

Sure, there is a fee charged for this rental- and it’s indeed just a “rental”. The fee charged usually is about $135 per 1,000 names, and you need to rent a minimum amount of names. That particular number differs from broker to broker. If you want to jump in this, be sure about the minimum amount you want to rent- and your total cost incurred.

You must also understand that it’s only a rental of names, which means that your contract with Brokerage Company is, only to use the name once-just once. Sometimes, you may also need to inform about the day, or a tentative date, when you may use these names.

So mailing lists are important in real estate direct marketing, but how much do they costs? The standard fee for renting a list containing a thousand names is around $140. Also ask the mailing list brokers you are considering, what is the minimum number of names they can rent out per list.

If you are interested in using the same names for a second time, then you will need to rent them again. If your mailing dates vary, you have to check it with your broker the very instant.

So before renting a list, you need to be sure of the date your real estate direct mail will be ready for mailing. Since this list will be rented out again, the data broker wants to make sure that their customers’ campaigns will not be negatively affected by having the same mailing list used on the same day by providers who are in the same business. So immediately contact your broker if you foresee any changes in your mailing date.

This saves you lots of time and effort, which you give in going through your local news, your courthouse or some ways of collecting them yourself. That gives you the freedom to utilize your time in doing what you are best at- making money!

So get that phone directory or surf online to find a list broker who can help you succeed in your real estate direct marketing campaign.
